Offense wins regular season games
Two weeks ago, I road tripped down to East Rutherford, NJ with two other Canadians at ESPN, Jeremy and Jason, to see the Canucks trounce the Devils 4-0. At the game, we met up with Kyle, a white-collar good ol’ boy from Arkansas. The seats were superb—11 rows from the ice behind the Canucks bench. It was the closest I have sat to the ice at an NHL game, and the experience was at times breathtaking. While difficult to see the play when it went to the corners, sitting so close to the ice provided me with an understanding of how big, fast, and skilled NHLers are. Seeing the Sedin twins work their magic, as described by Martin Brodeur (via Vancouver Canucks Op Ed) was particularly amazing:
[The Sedin twins] surprised me. They're patient with the puck, they can control the game. The passes they made on both goals -- it was like (the passes were) to themselves. I didn't know if one had two goals or if both had one goal.
In any case, if you can get a ticket to see a game really close to center ice, I recommend it.
