Two days of chillin' in a row
My sister Ayesha came into town on Thursday, and we had probably as good a time as can be had in this land of strip malls.
My buddy Jason and his wife Shelly had us over on Friday for a BBQ. It was nice to chill outside in the Friday afternoon sunshine, as too much of my summer has been spent indoors in front of a computer. Their kids Jaden (2) and Ty (4 months) kept us entertained, and J&S; cooked up a mean feast. Good times.
On Saturday we headed down to NYC--Ayesha had never been there. Hung in Central park, went to Cafe Gitane, then met up with Grace and Guy-Max to go to dinner at Jules. The tuna steak I had there was possibily the best dish I've had since the steak I had at Gibby's two years ago.
Ayesha managed to pull a hair out of her mashed potatoes, and when she pointed it out to the waiter, he told her that nobody in the kitchen had hair that short. I'm not really certain what he was trying to accomplish; the meal was comped, and he simply exacerbated the situation by insisting that the hair was not his kitchen staff's fault.
Seems like when you are in the customer service industry, all the customer wants to hear is "I'm sorry, it won't happen again, and here's how we're making it up to you."
So, while the tuna was superb, I'm not sure that Jules will be a place we'll be going back to.
We came back on Sunday, and after a chill night, Ayesha headed back to Montreal on Monday.
