I just found out (from Meredi.com, via Ray) that the people at Adaptive Path are offering a usability seminar in D.C. in August. Looks like my buddy / co-worker J-Log and I will be heading down. I look forward to, as they say, "learning lots about usability". And also, "good times".

I am quite psyched to take this course, as I have maintained more than a passing interest in Human Computer Interaction since I read Joel's User Interface Design for Programmers and several of Jacob Nielsen's books (50 Websites Deconstructed and Designing Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity). Ask Tog has some great stuff too.

I think the HCI fascination comes from the Psychology background, but it amazes me that really thinking about how a user will use a feature, and designing it appropriately, can make using a system a much more pleasant experience.

So I have gone looking for a good HCI course to take in the Hartford area. Have not unearthed anything yet, but I did find the ConnCHI Special Interest Group.
