...Cuz a Saskatchewan party don't stop.
An open bar, great food, and good people all ensured that the reception lived up to my high expectations. I had no doubt that Shakey and Tash would throw a good gig, and they certainly pulled it off. Batesy was the MC, and his charisma, wit, and Australian accent all contributed to a lively evening.
All of the groomsmen gave speeches, and when I went up there, I had an idea of what I wanted to say, but nothing that was practiced or planned very much. There were about 170 people at the wedding, and it was the first time I have spoken in front of that many people in my life. I was actually a lot more at ease than I expected. I told a story about the first time I met Tash, which was at Vol de Nuit. The three of us were out for a beer together, and Shakey and Tash sat beside each other, across from me, and told me the story of how they met. The way they told the story--sitting beside each other, finishing each others' sentences, and so in sync with each other--reminded me of all the couples in When Harry Met Sally. It was a cool moment, and one I tried to share with the crowd...and it seemed to go over well.
The great party was capped off with Geneve and I heading to Kris, Irv, and Joseph's room at 3am before we turned in. Some drunk chick was puking in their bathroom while hitting on the maid of honor (who was trying to keep Pukie's hair out of the toilet). When Pukie was done, she stumbled out of the bathroom and threw herself on Kris' bed.
We left the room shortly afterwards, chuckling at the expression on Kris' face; he had to catch a 7am flight to Toronto, and obviously anticipated more interactions with Pukie before then.
Poor bastard.
