Service here is crazy good

. You walk into a store, you hear a chorus of hellos from the staff. You pay for something, and there's a conversational script that most big-chain cashiers follow, usually ending with something like "Thank you for shopping! Our transaction is now finished!". And as you leave, a chorus of goodbyes and thank-yous follow you out the door...

Ramy tells me the story of an ex-pat who was literally chased down the street by a cashier when he handed her a 100-yen note for a 99-yen purchase and left the store (~120yen = 1 USD).
